Alexandra Smith’s work looks upon environmental concerns in our contemporary condition. Crossing boundaries between film and digital photography and experiments with inversion to strip away any beauty of the natural landscape, revealing the toxic impurity’s hidden beneath the surface.

Alexandra works across multiple mediums including digital photography, dark room photography and moving image. Her moving image pieces often reflect issues within the geological world.

In the physical process of Alexandra’s work, she includes some traces of the natural landscape. Sea water, soil, gravel or clay are often experimented within the process of her work, creating a deeper relationship between the work and the elements themselves.
